Update for those reading only this particular post: According to Peter Klevius evolution analysis (1981, 1992, 2012) small skulled HSS* went tropically West, and mixed with other small skulled relatives (compare e.g. the Manot skull cap 55,000 bp), while those who went North mixed with big skulled (cold adapted "mongoloid" - compare the Jinniushan woman) relatives who also spread (and sometimes hybridized) to the South and West. This pattern has been going on throughout Homo evolution.
